Last weekend, John Murphy of FPF Training hosted me for two training classes near Washington D.C. I taught a Saturday Tactical First Aid class followed up by a Tactical Groundfighting class on Sunday. Both classes were fun and Murphy’s students are always a joy to teach.
I was happy to have both John and Robert from the Civilian Gunfighter Blog as students in both classes. They both wrote very detailed after action reviews of the classes on their site. For those of you who want a more thorough idea of what you may be getting into when booking one of my classes, look no farther than these blog posts to get a complete understanding of what kind of material I cover.
I linked to both reviews below and highlighted a couple quotes for those of you who don’t want to (or can’t) click through.
” I feel confident in lumping Greg with the best of the instructors I have experience with. As a teacher, I appreciate that Greg’s approach is simple, giving the student everything he or she needs with no frills. He provides MANY opportunities throughout the class to review what has so far been covered (I cannot tell you how many times he asked us: “Okay, what do we do for massive bleeding? And if that doesn’t work? Okay, and what if the bleed is higher up in a spot where you can’t apply a tourniquet?”, etc.).
All instructors say they use a stair-stepped approach to delivering the material, but with Greg I always feel like I have an outline in front of me, so I know exactly what has been covered and where he is going next. There are teachers in my school who could probably learn a TON from Greg about how to deliver a lesson.”
“I am very glad that I was able to take this class, and I would definitely repeat it if the opportunity arose, just to reinforce the skills learned. Compared to only a few days ago, I now feel much more comfortable facing a violent encounter from the ground, even if there is more than one attacker or if the attacker is significantly larger than me (a distinct probability).”
Thanks to John and Robert for the excellent class write ups! You all should follow their Civilian Gunfighter blog as they regularly pen very informative articles.
If these reviews piqued your interest, John Murphy is bringing me back to Virginia in both June and October. Check out his schedule for more details.
I hope to see some of you in an upcoming training class!
