Last weekend I taught a class at the Rangemaster Tactical Conference titled “Escaping Criminal Restraints.”  The class focused on escaping zip ties, rope, duct tape, or handcuffs in the event you are restrained during a takeover robbery, home invasion, or kidnapping attempt.  The class was well attended by about 65 students.  I was amazed that so many people showed up!

Here are some of the comments and videos posted by students in the class as well as some other writers’ reflections on the event:

Mark Luell took video at several of the presentations.  Below is a quick video of my class where I taught duct tape escapes.

After showing the class how to escape duct tape, several of the ladies took a video of their simultaneous escapes.  One of my students shot video of a failed zip tie break leading to an escape using the friction saw method.  Nice work!

I also competed in the Polite Society pistol shooting match, placing 19 out of 158 shooters with some big names in the shooting world ahead of me. Not my best performance, but I’ll take it.  Full match results posted HERE.   Tammy from Women Carry shares some a very interesting commentary about the match in her article Why Women Shoot Slow.

Giving some information about an interesting case I investigated in Dr. William Aprill's class.

If you want to see more about the conference, check out the video compilation Tiffany Johnson created.  Tiffany also took a massive number of photographs of the event and all the associated festivities.

Dr. Sherman House also did a great review of Tom Givens’ shotgun class that you’ll definitely want to read.

Short Barrel Shepherd provided his 3×3 video reviews of day one and day two.  His reviews are both informative and entertaining.

Hanging out with some of the event's legendary instructors: Craig Douglas, Chris Fry, Caleb Causey, Dr. Lauren Pugliese, and the real life Jack Ryan.

The Rangemaster Conference is one of the best training events in the United States.  If you get a chance to attend next year, you won’t regret it!
