Howdy folks! I wanted to let you all know that I have an upcoming defensive knife for CCW class that you might not have seen. When the hosts scheduled it, they wanted it to be a private event with no open enrollment. They decided instead to make it an open enrollment course, so here it is.
The class will be in Brookville, Ohio on Saturday August 24, 2019. Brookville is near the Ohio/Indiana border right off of I-70. Here’s the class description.
MushinSST is proud to host Active Response Training who will be teaching a basic knife class.
The Defensive Knife for Concealed Carry class will be an introductory course designed to give people who normally carry a concealed pistol an alternate defense option if they venture into areas where carrying their pistols is illegal or impractical.
Topics covered will include:
Choosing a defensive knife
Carry locations
Drawing and opening the folding knife under stress
Basic cutting angles and targets
The three ways to use a knife to stop an attack
Escaping life-threatening physical attacks with a knife
Transitioning between knife and pistol
Weapon retention using the knife
The class will not be knife specific. Both fixed and folding blade training knives will be provided by the instructor. All ages and fitness levels will be accommodated.
The class will be held at a private indoor training facility. Bring clothing appropriate for the weather. Keep hydrated by bringing beverages. We will break for lunch so bring your own food. Note taking items would be recommended to help with retention and follow up after class.
Range fee is included. One more thing. An open mind is welcome! Cost will be $150. $25 deposit is due at sign up. Armed Lady members please message for an additional discount!
*Refunds will only be made if the class is cancelled. If a student is unable to attend the class, they will be given a credit to another class of comparable value.

About the instructor:
Greg Ellifritz is a 24-year veteran patrol officer and firearms instructor for a central Ohio police department. He served 13 years as the full time tactical training officer for his agency and holds instructor or master instructor certifications in more than 75 different weapon systems, defensive tactics programs and police specialty areas.
He has a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management and has written for several publications including: “American Handgunner”, “Personal and Home Defense”, ‘The Firearms Instructor”, “Ohio Police Chief”, “Combat Handguns” and “Concealed Carry Magazine”.
In addition to working as a police officer, Greg served as a primary instructor at the Tactical Defense Institute for 18 years and has taught numerous classes for the Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Academy. He has trained with most of the best knife instructors in the world including James Keating, Bram Frank, Michael Janich, Steve Tarani, Craig Douglas, Hock Hochheim, and Kelly Worden.
I only have this and one other knife class scheduled for the remainder of the year.
