Plan For Failure
We are entering some very uncertain times. What should you do to prepare? Paul has some good advice here. Combine that with Daisy’s thoughts about the The Election Pandemic Playbook and Uncle Zo’s recommendation to Always. Be. Carrying. and you will be far better prepared than your neighbors.
From One To The Next — Some Handheld Light Techniques
What passes for “low light training” in most of the shooting industry is laughable. If the only low light work you’ve ever done is to occasionally fire the gun with a flashlight in your hand, you aren’t prepared to win fights in the dark. Pay attention to Erick’s advice here and then take a quality low light shooting class that covers force on force scenarios and structure clearing in the hours of darkness.
Observations from TDI’s Final Intense Scenario Training
In the description of the previous link, I advised taking classes that teach how to defend yourself in the dark. This is a great example of such a class. I’m happy to say that I taught the FIST class the author talks about for more than 15 years. It’s a great opportunity to learn a lot about your skill levels across broad domains.

The M1 Carbine, A Great Gun For Youth And Small Framed People
I once dated a woman who had a pre-teen son. They boy was very much into guns and I enjoyed taking him shooting. He was too small to be able to adequately run even my lightest AR-15. With an M-1 Carbine, the boy was a shooting ace. There’s something about this rifle that makes it an excellent weapon for smaller people.

Shot Timers & Self-Defense Training: How Much Speed Do You Need?
Last week I posted an article about how vital having a shot timer is for your training. But there is also a downside. Can you shoot too fast? Tamara writes some very important words on that topic here. Having a .18 shooting split may not be the most desirable skill set when your decision-making process takes .25 seconds to complete.
While on the topic of speed, does smooth = fast?
